AVALANCHE DANGER |

Wind slabs at high altitude. The fresh wind slabs are mostly small. |

Main avalanche problem: wind-drifted snow
The wind was moderate to strong in particular in the north and in the west.
The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs represent the main danger. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found especially adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas above approximately 2700 m. In extremely steep terrain the likelihood of avalanches being released is greater. The small wind slabs are clearly recognisable. The avalanches are shallow and can mostly only be released by large loads.
Natural avalanches are not to be expected.
In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard crust. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls. Locally useful rampants and crampons. Attention also to the outcropping stones. |

Tuesday 25: |
|
The conditions of stability are mostly favourable for snow sport activities. |
|
GENERAL CONDITION updated to 1/22/2022 |
  |
|
In all regions less snow than usual is lying. In particular at low and intermediate altitudes from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying.
The snowpack is faceted. The fresh wind slabs have bonded well with the old snowpack in all aspects in all altitude zones. The weather conditions facilitated a strengthening of the snowpack in all aspects.
In the last few days hardly any more avalanches were observed.
Skiability good on cold slopes, but now very marked; little loose snow only in the most sheltered basins. In the bumps and near the ridges stones lurking. More or less hard crusts on the southern slopes. Little/no snow in the lower parts: go up/down using the off roads. |
